RV Warranty Work

Mobile RV Tech Services performs most types of RV warranty repairs as a trusted third-party provider, working directly with many manufacturers to help streamline the process for RV owners. We provide professional mobile RV service in Iosco County, Michigan from April 15 to December 15, and in the Houston, Texas area from January 1 to April 1.

RV Warranties We Service

  • Extended Warranties
This is a warranty purchased by the RV owner, often called a service contract or insurance policy.

RV Warranty Process

We act as the middleman between the RV owner and the manufacturer. Here’s what you can expect when Mobile RV Tech Services completes your warranty repairs as a third-party provider.

Extended Warranties
Straight forward, easy to work with.

  • Customers will pay their deductible and any applicable mileage fees at the time of service. We will bill the extended warranty company for the remaining balance.

  • You are encouraged to call the warranty company beforehand to notify them of an issue and to verify coverage.

  • We will schedule an appointment to diagnose the issue.

  • Once there is a diagnosis, we will call your warranty company to file a claim.

    • Note: We will need the extended warranty contract information to file a claim. This is usually the cover page with your deductible, contact number and the phone number to call for claims. Sometimes we just need a phone number and the VIN number to file a claim and other times, we need a photo of the contract.

  • Once the claim is approved, you will know what the total out of pocket cost would be.

    • Customers will pay the deductible on the first visit.

  • Items that are not covered by the extended warranty:

    • Freight

    • Shop supplies

    • Disposal of old appliances

    • Tool fees, such as an air conditioner lift

    • The mileage fee depends on the contract. Sometimes it is not covered, other times is is partially covered and sometimes it is fully covered.

  • Once the claim is approved, the repair will be completed during that visit if the part is in stock. If parts need to be ordered, a second appointment will be scheduled to complete the repair.

  • Note: Multiple items can be filed on one claim. This is a good time to get those small items on your list taken care of (especially if they are covered by your contract).

  • You will need to digitally sign our invoice once the work is completed, and we will bill the extended warranty company for the balance.

  • We work with all extended warranty companies except for United States Warranty Corp.

OEM & Appliance Manufacture Warranties
More complex, with additional costs for customers.

When warranty work is performed by our company as a third-party provider, customers should expect out-of-pocket costs for items the manufacturer does not cover, such as diagnostics and mileage. If you prefer not to pay these costs, taking your RV to a dealership for warranty service may be a better option.

OEM Manufacturer Warranties
We work with RV manufacturers such as Forest River, Keystone, Jayco, Alliance, Brinkley, Thor, and more.

Appliance Manufacturer Warranties
We work with appliance manufacturers such as Dometic, Lippert, Furrion, GE, Coleman, Suburban, Aqua Hot, and more.

What Is Not Covered by Manufacturer Warranties

  • Manufacturers typically only cover the exact part that needs to be replaced and the standard time it should take to fix it in a perfect situation. They do not account for difficult access, or the extra time needed to remove other items to reach the part, which is often the case in real-world repairs.

  • If the flat rate approved by the manufacturer is not enough time to complete the repair in a real-world mobile setting, the customer is responsible for the additional time needed. This is explained when the claim is filed and approved.

  • Manufacturers pay for the time to replace the failed part, but not for the time spent diagnosing the issue. Diagnostics (figuring out what is broken) are not covered, and customers are responsible for a minimum of one hour on the first visit.

  • The mileage fee, also called the service fee, to reach your location is not covered unless stated in advance by the manufacturer.

  • Most manufacturer warranty repairs require at least two trips, and sometimes three or four. Each trip includes a mileage fee. If a second trip is needed to complete a repair, both mileage fees are billed on the first visit.

  • Disposal of an old appliance is not covered.

  • If a repair takes less than one hour, the customer is responsible for the balance of the one-hour minimum.

Manufacture Recalls
More complex, usually handled during existing service calls.

Manufacturer recalls follow the same guidelines as OEM and appliance manufacturer warranties, since these recalls are issued by the same companies. When a recall is approved, the manufacturer covers the repair itself, but customers may still be responsible for costs such as diagnostics, mileage, and any time not covered by the warranty. Please refer to the section above for those details.

If the recall work pays less than one hour, or the manufacturer does not allow a mileage fee, the recall will be completed by our company while we are already on-site for a scheduled service call. In that case, the customer is responsible for our one-hour minimum and the mileage fee, and we will take care of the recall work during that visit.

Here is a real-world example. A recall is issued for RVs built over the past ten years, and the manufacturer only pays six minutes to complete the repair. In reality, it takes time to gather your information over the phone, drive to and from your location, replace the part, and process the recall in the manufacturer’s system. Even if you live close by, we can easily have an hour into the job, and more if the drive is longer. Being paid for six minutes of work while spending an hour of time and putting wear on our vehicle is not sustainable for a mobile service business. That is why recalls that pay under one hour are completed during your next scheduled service visit with us.
